Brief Biography
Thavisouk Phrasavath is the co-director, writer, editor, narrator
and the subject of "THE BETRAYAL (Nerakoon)," an auto-biographical documentary that was nominated for both an Oscar and Independent's Spirit Award in the best documentary feature category in 2008. The film was broadcasted on POV and won
the 2010 Creative Arts Primetime EMMY Award Winner for
Exceptional Merit in Nonfiction Filmmaking. Thavi has a long
career as a filmmaker and author. He escaped from Laos with
his family in 1977, settling in and growing up in Brooklyn, NY.
